New Jersey DevilsIntern (May 2011 to September 2011, January 2012 to May 2012) |
As a Street Team intern for the New Jersey Devils, I represented the team at various fairs, festivals, and other community events throughout New Jersey. I would set up entertainment attractions for fans of all ages while also collecting entry forms for contests that worked as information gathering for potential ticket sales. I would answer questions that fans had in regards to the team, the upcoming schedule, and I would direct them to Sales Representative when appropriate.
Besides the off-site events, I would also help out the New Jersey Devils' social media team on New York Liberty game nights, concert nights, and other events at the Prudential Center. Duties consisted of approaching customers about their participation in the Prudential Center's Facebook page, doing giveaways and mini-contests, and taking pictures of customers for the arena's social media pages.
I began a second internship with the New Jersey Devils in January 2012 with the Web Operations / Creative Services department.
I maintained LeagueStat database of youth hockey stats for New Jersey Youth Hockey Central presented by AmeriHealth. Beyond that, I covered NJSIAA 2012 State Tournament for NewJerseyDevils.com by interviewing coaches, writing game previews and recaps, live-blogging the championship game, wrote features on the game winning teams, and updated the website.
Additionally, I worked game nights where duties ranged from manning the auction tables for charity, manning the Digital Zone for giveaways to improve social media numbers, escorting VIP guests around the arena in a timely fashion, and more.
Beyond the NJYHL and NJSIAA duties, in-office work included promoting and selling the New Jersey Devils college nights and select Prudential Center events, such as the Harlem Globetrotters and Ringling Bros. Circus. My intern sales team lead all interns with 72 sales for $1,215.00.
For the final weeks of my internship, I worked closely with the Prudential Center's Public Relations on special projects related to the business operations.
